Environmental Action Policy

As part of its corporate activities, the SANKYO Group is committed to continuously contributing to a better global environment by working to reduce its environmental impact.

Initiatives toward Climate Change

Based on the TCFD recommendations, our policy on the risks and opportunities posed by climate change to our business describes our initiatives and structures in terms of governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets.

Initiatives for Recycling and Reuse

The Group is dedicated to promoting the recycling of pachinko and pachislot machines to make effective use of resources and reduce environmental impact. We have achieved a high recycling rate exceeding 90%. From the design stage, we work to increase the use of recyclable parts and the percentage of common components to reduce the loss of components, so that the specifications are easier to recycle. We make active use of low-priced reuse models that are expected to be as effective as new models. These measures not only promote recycling but also benefit from cost reduction. The Group will further deepen its efforts to reduce environmental impact and improve management efficiency.

Efforts to Utilize Renewable Energy

As part of the Group’s renewable energy initiatives, we installed a rooftop solar power generation system under a power purchase agreement (PPA) model at the plant of our consolidated subsidiary, SANKYO EXCEL CO., LTD. By consuming the electricity generated on-site, we are reducing CO2 emissions. In FY3/2025, the use of renewable energy from these solar panels reduced CO2 emissions by 284 t-CO2. Looking ahead, we also plan to install a rooftop solar power generation system under a PPA model at the Company’s Sanwa Plant.

Standardization of Components

The Group is committed to reducing material waste by promoting the standardization of components across pachinko and pachislot machine models and brands. Currently, approximately 52% of the components in our pachinko machines and 77% in our pachislot machines are standardized. We will continue our efforts to further increase the use of common parts.

Other Environmental Initiatives

Change in Packaging and Cushioning Materials for Product Accessories at Shipment

By switching the packaging and cushioning materials for product accessories from expanded polystyrene to corrugated cardboard, we are contributing to waste reduction at customer sites. This initiative not only lessens environmental impact, but also reduces the cost and effort associated with disposal—delivering environmental benefits, cost savings, and greater convenience for customers.

Introduction of Hybrid Vehicles in the Sales Fleet

As part of our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, the Company’s Sales Headquarters has been actively replacing its fleet with environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles, and the majority of vehicles have already been converted.

Across the Group, we are also promoting the effective use of resources through capital investments that lower energy consumption and CO2 emissions—such as converting office lighting to LED systems, upgrading to high-efficiency air-conditioning equipment, and installing motion-sensor lighting—while also advancing digitization (paperless operations). In addition, to reduce environmentally hazardous substances in our products, we are promoting the adoption of lead-free circuit boards, reducing the use of plated parts, and expanding the use of recyclable materials.
